Decanter Panel Tasting – Australian Shiraz
(Issue: November 2011)

“Australia is home to the world’s oldest Shiraz; vines as deep-rooted as the country’s passion for the variety.”

Of the 235 wines submitted for the Decanter Australian Shiraz tasting, our 2009 Samantha’s Garden from Clare Valley won the accolade of being the highest rated Australian Shiraz. Not only did our 2009 Samantha’s Garden score top honours with a ‘Five Star Decanter Award’, this wine was also awarded the highest score of the tasting with 19.2 out of 20 points.

“Perfumed, complex and vivacious nose of blueberry, violet, wet earth, spice, oak, mint and chocolate. Soft, juicy and delicious red which is defined, focused and expressive, with very fine fruit flavours. Exceptional concentration. ”
Drink: 2011-2015. Alcohol: 14.6%

In achieving this recognition, Samantha’s Garden impressed a diverse mix of judges on the tasting panel, including Sam Caporn MW, Tim Wildman MW, David Wainwright, Sarah Ahmed and Margaret Rand.

Two Hands 2009 Angels’ Share and 2008 Gnarly Dudes were also well received, with both wines awarded 4 stars – ‘Highly recommended’.
