The Wine Lover’s Labor

… The next great experience is just a corkscrew pull away. What other product on earth can allow you to surf so many cultures so easily? In a swing through the cellar you come upon French fizz, then a Germany Riesling, then a Spanish Albariño, then an Italian Soave, then a Santa Rita Hills Pinot Noir, then a French Cote Rotie (from a slope of land farmed since Roman times), then a New Zealand Syrah, then rolling home with a Argentinean Malbec and Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon and ending on an old Australian fortified Muscat or a Portuguese Vintage Port. Wow.  —Michael Twelftree
