2012 Ares: 94 Points, Wine Spectator

AresAres, from the Flagship line of Two Hands wines, represents the very best selection of Shiraz from the winery. Wine Spectator editor-at-large Harvey Steiman is in now with a review of the 2012 Ares, which he awards a score of 94 points. Here’s his tasting note:

94        Two Hands Wines Ares Barossa Valley/McLaren Vale 2012
Big, rich, ripe and dense, layered with black cherry, licorice, dark chocolate and spice flavors, picking up a smoky note as the finish lingers. Has presence, muscle and depth. Will benefit from cellaring. Best from 2018 through 2025. –H.S.

Ares dates back to the earliest days of Two Hands, and late last year, Managing Director and Proprietor Michael Twelftree led Steiman through a vertical tasting of the wine. Steiman found a common theme running through the wines, “a thumbprint,” and said the wines had “aged very well.” See more here.
