Gnarly Dudes With ‘Star Wars’
Amid all of the hype, finally someone has written something useful about the new “Star Wars” film.
It’s a guide to pairing wines with a marathon viewing of the long-running series of movies. And you know this piece in Atlanta Magazine is insightful because Gnarly Dudes is included, as the second of two pours paired with “Episode I: The Phantom Menace” (a Markham Chardonnay comes first).
Second pour: 2013 Two Hands Gnarly Dudes, Barossa Shiraz, $28.99 The movie takes a dark turn in the second half, with the return of the Sith and the death of Qui-Gon Jinn. The perfect pairing: a red from another underappreciated wine region. “Like California Chardonnay, it’s not cool to like Australian Shiraz, but man, it’s so good,” Crane says. “Just like the end of the movie, it’s dark and rich and powerful.”
